The Hampton Roads Chapter of AITP
recently sponsored a Special Event featuring Kelley DuBois of
Microsoft Corporation. Over 60 participants were in
attendance. All who came received some great information and
several came away with some terrific door prizes. Thanks

Meeting Preview |
The December meeting is
spouse's night at the Hampton Roads AITP. Please bring your
spouse or significant other and pay the member price of only $17
for their dinner! We hope to see you there.

Our
December 6th meeting will feature a presentation by
Joseph Garbarre of NASA. Joseph is a 2001 graduate of Penn
State University with a BS in Aerospace Engineering.
Joseph was a Cooperative Education employee at the NASA Langley
Research Center prior to graduating, with three separate
semester-long rotations between Spring 1999 and Summer 2000.
He began working full-time there in May 2001 in the Structural
and Thermal Systems Branch, working on such projects as ARES
Mars Scout Proposal (lead thermal engineer), CALIPSO (lead
thermal engineer), Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, and Mars
Odyssey.
He is currently pursuing his MS in Aerospace
Engineering from the University of Maryland-College Park,
concentrating in aerospace systems, with expected graduation in
Spring 2006. Joseph enjoys camping, hiking, golf, softball
and pickup basketball. His wife Shannon is an architectural
engineer with the College of William & Mary.

November Meeting Highlights |
|
Our
November 1st. meeting featured a presentation by
Max Bartholomew Jr.. Max
spoke on the
"State of Dominion Resources“.
In
addition
he gave us some insight regarding the
deregulation time table for utilities under the Electric
Restructure Act.
Max is the Eastern Regional Senior External
Affairs Manager for Dominion Power. He holds a
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration
from Old Dominion University, class of 1970. He has worked for
Virginia Power for 34 years in
Fredricksburg, Charlottesville, Richmond and Virginia Beach. He
also
attended the University of Michigan Executive Program in 1996.
He is very
active in the community and was the
South Hampton Roads United Way 2000 Chairman of Board of
Directors. He was also a member of the Virginia Peninsula
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Virginia Air & Space
Center Board of Directors, the City of Virginia Beach Industrial
Development Authority, the City of Virginia Beach Resort
Advisory Commission, the Virginia Aquarium & Science Museum
Board of Directors, the
Cape Henry Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the
Virginia Beach Friend of Agriculture 2002.
