Region 18 Spring Conference |
The Hampton Roads and
Richmond Chapters of the AITP will be co-hosting the Region 18

November Meeting Preview |
Our
November 14th. meeting will feature a presentation by James
“Chico” Manzie. James is a Master Firefighter - Hazardous
Materials Specialist for the City of Newport News. He will speak
on Hazmat Technology.
James has 22 years in the
department, 12 years as a member of the Regional Response Hazmat
Teams. He is also the tractor-trailer driving instructor.
James was selected as the
departments "Firefighter of the Year" in 2005.
James is involved in numerous
volunteer activities, he is the past Boy Scout Troop
Scoutmaster, advisor to an Explorer Post, a member of the Red
Cross Disaster Action Team, and CPR instructor. He is also an
Adjunct Instructor (Hazardous Materials Curriculum) for the
Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the Hampton
Roads Criminal Justice Academy.

Our October 3rd.
meeting featured a site visit to the NOAA Wakefield Weather
Station, followed by dinner at the Virginia Diner in Wakefield.
Bill Sammler of NOAA was our tour guide. Bill is the Warning
Coordinator Meteorologist for the NOAA Wakefield Weather
Station. |
